Tras la inofensiva infección por parte de un joven australiano de unos cuantos iPhones desbloqueados, un nuevo gusano amenaza la seguridad de los terminales inteligentes de Apple, esta vez de una forma mucho más peligrosa.
El nuevo gusano también se centra en los smartphones desbloqueados de forma irregular, especialmente en los de aquellos usuarios del banco neerlandés ING Direct que utilizan su terminal para conectarse a su cuenta corriente. Una vez infectados, visitarán una página que se asemeja al portal de ING. Además, el virus podría convertir a los diferentes equipos en una red de botnets.
“Es el segundo gusano para iPhone y el primero que es realmente malicioso”, explica a la BBC británica el director de investigación de la especialista en seguridad F-Secure, Mikko Hypponen, “hay un motivo financiero claro detrás de ello”.
Por ahora, la infección sólo ha llegado a Holanda, aunque podría ser el primer paso para una nueva generación de malware. El primer virus para iPhone se contentaba con reconvertir el fondo de pantalla del terminal en un homenaje al cantante de los 80, Rick Astley
